Charity is at the heart of Freemasonry
The Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) supports Masons, their families and non-masonic organisations throughout England and Wales. In 2019, Freemasons in the UK donated over £45 million to local and national charities.
Masonic charity is exercised at every level: individual Lodges make gifts and give aid to their own members and their communities. Every regional Masonic location, known as a Province, also gives large sums of money to regional causes. Good local examples in 2019 were the £75,000 granted to the community in Wainfleet, Lincolnshire, which suffered from severe flooding and £65,000 to AGE UK Lindsey, which supports vulnerable people in their older years, Lindsey Lodge Hospice and The Forge Project in Scunthorpe.
Supporting local charitable organisations and worthy causes is an important part of our reason for existing.
